Custom Hardwood Flooring
Prodigy Hardwood creates hardwood flooring one order at a time, to your specifications. This is a different approach than that of volume commodity producers, but for over 25 years we've enjoyed the process of working with our customers to craft precisely what they envision for their project. Our hardwood flooring is as unique as our customers, just as it should be. Premium quality and custom capabilities from Prodigy are also more affordable than most suspect. Whether your allowance is $3sf or $30sf, we have solutions for almost every budget.
All of our hardwood flooring, whether solid or engineered, is machined and graded to exceed industry standards. The care and time we invest in crafting hardwood flooring one order at a time enables us to set quality standards seldom obtainable in mass production. We've utilized more than 50 domestic and exotic hardwoods in working to satisfy our customer's wishes. We can usually accommodate requests for special cuts of lumber also, such as quartersawn, livesawn, figured, and we work with reclaimed lumber as well.
In solid hardwood flooring, we offer a thickness of 3/4" and in engineered flooring, we offer many options for thickness including 3/4". Widths we offer range from 3/4" to 10", with limited availability in widths up to 12" in some species. Length range options vary according to species and format, however, we offer better than industry standard length averages in almost every product and in some cases we can provide very long length averages. Beyond plank wood flooring, we custom produce herringbone and large scale mosaic flooring as well.
For textures, stains, and finishes, we have perhaps the broadest range of capabilities in the hardwood flooring Industry. Hand scraping in a variety of styles is something we began decades ago. In this time when most hand scraping is done by machine, our flooring is and will remain "authentic hand scraped". Other textures include wire brushing, saw marked and distressed. Our texture options can also be combined if desired. Our staining options include many standard colors as well as color matching to your sample provided. Finishing options include a natural oil, hardwax oil and UV cured polyurethane in your preference of sheen.
Reclaimed Oak Flooring
For this project we produced wide plank reclaimed Red Oak flooring to compliment the warm and inviting atmosphere of a family room with a fireplace. The nail holes visible in the floor reflect it's prior life as barn siding where it served for over a century. Antique hardwood flooring is always a hit.
Hand Scraped Hickory Flooring
Hand scraped Hickory flooring remains a favorite with our customers, as do random widths which I think compliment the texture of a hand scraped floor very nicely. Especially with our Winchester stain. Adding further to the warmth of this kitchen are the Antique White cabinets with a Van Dyke Black glaze.
Wide Plank Flooring
This project in process will utilize our 12" wide plank White Oak flooring with a skip sawn texture, shown here unfinished. To contrast the immense size of our wide plank floor, this photo shows a piece of common commodity 2-1/4" strip flooring laying on top. We promote scaling of the floor to fit the space, and this grand home will have a grand floor.
Hand Scraped Brazilian Cherry
We are one of the few companies to offer authentic hand scraped Brazilian Cherry flooring. This project just completed for a local law office turned out beautifully. We pre-finished the floor with a natural oil sealer and applied our proprietary antiquing tinted wax on-site for a very natural look that the customer loved.
French Bleed Hickory
For this project where our customer loved contrast and character we employed several techniques on this varied width hickory hardwood flooring including hand scraping, barbed wire impressions, a french bleed which fades the edges to black and a nutmeg stain to add warmth. We custom craft hardwood flooring to suit the specific taste and style of each customer. The unique hardwood floor we designed together complimented their home and furnishings beautifully.
Wire Brushed White Oak
For this project the customer wanted a floor with a beach house look. We utilized wide plank live sawn White Oak which which we heavily wire brushed, whitewashed and finished in a satin urethane. This will compliment the beaded panel glazed cabinets beautifully. We love to collaborate with our customers.
Formal Hardwood Flooring
In period homes we still see demand for traditional formal designs that were so popular up through the 1930's for the beautiful stately homes of the time. Perimeter borders, medallions and some pattern work were selected for this project to compliment very high grade Walnut and Maple flooring. Hardwood flooring sets the stage for the entire home and in this case it's a setting of sophisticated style.
Brazilian Walnut Flooring
This is an all long length natural grade Brazilian Walnut flooring we provided in collaborating with architect David Hovey, referred to by some as the modern day Frank Lloyd Wright. Many more photos of this 15,000sf home and others are available in the book "The Nature of Dwellings" covering a collection of work by David Hovey. His projects are always bold, exciting and an honor to be part of.
Mosaic Wood Flooring
These four patterns we designed to utilize 3" wide long leaf Southern Yellow Pine which we constructed into 18" mosaic panels. They made for beautiful wood floors and a successful program that found favor with many customers. Wood floors can, and in our opinion, should be creative.
Bleached White Oak Flooring
Character grade Oak planking which you may think to only be suitable for only a cabin or rustic setting fits beautifully in contemporary designs like in this New York City loft. Our hardwood flooring does not have to stop at the wall, why not continue up the wall as well. The warmth which the planking and the beams add to this modern space is what makes it feel like home!
Reclaimed Hardwood Flooring
Certain settings are ideal for the old sawmill look which is a bit more complicated than it looks. :) Although they have the look of rough old planks, they are actually precisely machined to fit perfectly together but yet they retain the aged patina and saw mark texture. This flooring although surprising to some actually has a very upscale appeal.
Mixed Species Mosaic
This client requested that we replicate the floor from the St. Petersburg Cathedral in his home Country of Russia. He was very pleased with the floor we made in the pattern called Rhombs and complimented it with bright cheery colors for a space that he said made him very happy. We love to bring ideas to reality and are inspired by clients that have a passion for their project.
Hand Scraped Brazilian Cherry
This customer selected our authentic hand scraped Brazilian Cherry and was kind enough to send us photos of the completed project. It's always interesting to see how the colors in the room or house play on the hardwood floor and bring out different tones. In this case I believe the white trim and deep earth tones on the walls brought out the richness in the wood.
Inlaid Horseshoe Flooring
The detail and finishing touches in our work make all the difference. Allow us to create a custom crafted hardwood floor for your dream home!
French Bleed Walnut Flooring
For this project we utilized rustic Walnut, heavily scraped the edges, done some distressing, a french bleed resulting in the depressions and edges fading to black and applied our antiquing stain. The aged cobblestone look is exactly what the client was after and they were thrilled with the resulting transformation to their themed restaurant. The finish we used in this case was a satin/matte oil based urethane. They continually receive compliments on their beautiful hardwood floors. :)
Quartersawn Walnut Flooring
This unassuming photo is actually of something rather rare. For this project we had to produce quartersawn Walnut flooring, shown here unfinished, which is far from a common item. As a custom hardwood flooring manufacturer however we regularly craft unique and creative floors to compliment the preference of our clients. We love a challenge. If you want to make a real statement with your floors, give us a call!
Cumaru Hardwood Flooring
Exotic hardwood flooring is generally sought after in the Clear Grade with the thought I suspect that most want what is considered to be the best. I have nothing against this or a consistent color, but the lower grades make a much more significant impact visually and simply look more exotic as in the case of this Cumaru floor. Our lower grade exotics are also available at very attractive prices!
Walnut Mosaic Flooring
This mosaic panel sitting in our shop is one we've built many times being a historic pattern in honor of the Château de Fontainebleau in France. Shown here in unfinished Walnut, these panels are used in place of conventional planks as hardwood flooring and represent the pinnacle of wood flooring elegance. We've produced the Fountainbleau pattern for many residential and commercial projects over the years.
Guajuvira Hardwood Flooring
One wild looking wood! Exotic hardwoods are generally admired for their consistent color in the Clear Grade, however several species we carry such as Guajuvira in a sort for heavy sapwood shown here exhibits a far more exotic and visually interesting appearance. Don't be fearful of being bold with your design ideas. Truly accomplished architects and designers typically are. These are our customers for the most daring of projects and the outcome generally has a real wow factor.
Curly Hard Maple Flooring
No texture here. For this project we selected beautifully figured natural grade Hard Maple which we milled in varied widths and finished with a buffed hardwax oil. We love producing figured hardwood flooring. In this case it absolutely made the room.

For anyone that likes Brazilian Cherry flooring, you will love Santos Mahogany flooring. The deep rich red color is beautiful. This floor we finished with an oil based urethane to further enhance the color. We imported many containers of this beautiful wood when the trend called for it.
Quartersawn White Oak Flooring
White Oak is one of my personal favorites in terms of having a warm, inviting, neutral color that will compliment most any decor. Shown here is our Quartersawn White Oak with our signature Camelot texture hand scraping which has the appearance of rippled water. White Oak is harder, more stable, more neutral in color and has better finishing characteristics than Red Oak. It is well worth the little extra money unless you happen to want the pink tones of Red Oak.
Walnut Mosaic Flooring
This is a single 36" panel from a mosaic flooring project where we used natural grade Walnut, hand scraped the edges for an old world texture, used our signature chestnut stain and finished in a satin urethane. As the panels are installed they create a beautiful pattern. We replicate historic patterns as well as work with clients to create custom designs as in this case. Our limitation is your imagination.
Heavy Hand Scraped Flooring
In producing custom hardwood flooring, we tailor every aspect of the floor to compliment the preferences of the customer. Species, grade, dimension, texture, color and finish. In this control sample submitted for customer approval we combined all the elements important to them. Another very happy customer!
Hand Scraped Flooring History
The very first hand scraped floor we produced was for a celebrity home and we thought the request to be really rather eccentric! More than 15 years later the demand for our artistic services have grown steadily. Our authentic hand scraped hardwood flooring is very unique compared to most which are done by machine. The texture other than just being attractive also alleviates the anxiety of having a new pristine hardwood floor.
Barn Wood Flooring
Reclaimed hardwood flooring is rather difficult to produce and do well. In this project we machined barn siding into flooring and even though we machined it to have a clean face, the character of the aged and weathered wood is very evident. Every reclaimed floor we run is different from the one before as the source lumber comes from different barns or structures which all seem to have their own unique characteristics. This floor as shown is unfinished.
Flush Mount Floor Registers
Our flush mount vent and frame sets are a must have with any hardwood floor we provide. We offer them in any size needed and in any species which we produce the floor from. These are an excellent finishing touch for your beautiful new hardwood floor. No more metal vents! :)
Tiger Oak Flooring
Exposed medullary ray fleck is the signature attribute of quartersawn White Oak which was used almost exclusively by Gustav Stickley in his iconic furniture designs. When cut in this manner, the stability characteristics are also greatly enhanced, the surface becomes harder and the color deeper. We earned a very happy customer with this project as our criteria for this cut of wood is far more stringent than industry standard.
Hand Scraped Brazilian Cherry
Our Camelot textured Brazilian Cherry hardwood flooring in this project was selected for straight grain and treated with our chemical process to provide a deep rich color. This unique and durable floor draws many compliments.
Herringbone Ash Flooring
Another alternative to conventional strip or plank hardwood flooring is herringbone flooring. In this project we used ash which we produced in a dimension of 2-1/4" x 9" to fill an area in the center of a room which was bordered, creating the look of an inlaid rug. The pattern is simple but the look is elegant and made for a real standout in that space. Don't be afraid to be daring with your design!
Livesawn White Oak Flooring
The warm and welcoming feeling of our Livesawn White Oak flooring has grown steadily in popularity over the years, and for good reason. The casual vintage appearance of this farmhouse style flooring provides for a relaxed and comfortable setting everyone will enjoy. Textured, stained, and finished to your liking.

Hickory Flooring with Impressions
This is a custom themed hardwood floor we produced for a professional farrier utilizing Hickory that we hand scraped with a rippled texture then added barbed wire and farrier nail impressions along with our signature Chestnut stain. This project resulted in hundreds of others for horse lovers across the US with some including inlaid horseshoes. :)
Natural Grade R&Q White Oak Flooring
Our Natural Grade Rift & Quartered White Oak is a great value exhibiting only minimal character while offering all the wonderful benefits of this premium cut of lumber. The clarity sorted for in the Clear Grade is wonderful for a more formal space, but for this commercial project we wanted a bit more of a casual floor which made this office more inviting.
Rippled Walnut Flooring
For this project we used our Natural Grade Walnut and our craftsmen with significant skill and labor carved our signature texture into this beautiful floor. Our Camelot hand scraped with its appearance of rippled water has been ever popular with architects and designers. It is a unique texture unlike anything else I'm the custom hardwood flooring market.
Hand Hewn Oak Flooring
This was a unique project for a barn house and the preference was for the flooring planks to be hand hewn with an adze just as done on some cabin logs. Complimented by the antique furniture it looked like the home of the pioneer Ingalls family. We can do the same for you!
Classic Hand Scraped Hickory
Our Natural Grade Hickory hand scraped in what we refer to as the Pioneer style combined with our ever popular Chestnut stain has perhaps been our most frequently sold floor over the last 20 years. The combination of a very hard and durable wood, a moderate hand crafted texture and a warm neutral color have won favor for hundreds if not thousands of residential and commercial projects across the US in total.
Shedua Hardwood Flooring
Sometimes the creativity is all in the wood selection. This project calling for 3,000sf of flooring for a trophy room where the homeowner would go on safari in Africa, we selected and produced a hardwood floor in Shedua, of coarse from Africa, in varied widths that complimented the setting perfectly!
Quartered French Bleed Oak Flooring
I've always been a fan of quartersawn White Oak, and for this project we wire brushed the flooring, applied an ebony dye to accentuate the grain and bevels, then applied our custom stain and finish for warmth. Beautiful hardwood flooring that made for a very happy client!
Figured Hard Maple Flooring
For this project we selected beautifully figured natural grade Hard Maple which we milled in varied widths and finished with a buffed hardwax oil. The figuring changes appearance depending on the direction you are looking from. We love producing figured hardwood flooring. In this case it absolutely made the room.
Bordered Brazilian Cherry Flooring
This project called for deep and rich color tones for a contemporary setting. The Brazilian Cherry flooring with border and brass inlay provided a very clean and upscale look. The hardness and durability of this and other exotics make them very appealing for commercial settings as much as residential. We would be delighted to provide this look for you as well.
